well my wonderful nephew told me that I should work on my blog so here it is. I have decided that life is too busy. There never seems to be enough time to do all the things that need to be done. It does not help that I am not a very organized person. So I will try to update this not really a blog a little more often. take care May 3 2009, I was the recipient of the Upstart Crow's Creativity Award from the Delta Arts Council's juried art show ARTSPACFIC Yeah!
I am pleased to announce that I was the recent recipient of the Gold Arts Award from the Burns Bog Conservation Society. It is quite an honor. A big thank you to the Delta Arts Council for their nomination. (posted on 24 Dec 2008)
Well, lot of things have happened since William has been born. On Oct. 8th I was T-boned at the corner of 52 st and Hwy 17 in Tsawwassen. I have whiplash and am recovering from that, slowly. So I was back and forth to the chiropractor and now physio.
One of my paintings, " Green and Gold" was chosen in the top 10 for Trout Unlimited artist of the year's contest. That was in November and is very exciting. They sent a courier to take it to Calgary, to make their final choice. Cross your fingers. The winner will be announced on January 12 2009
Another one of my paintings was chosen by Metro Port Vancouver to be one of 6 artists featured in their promotional program for the calendars, Bus stop posters and for their newspaper ads. The Delta Arts Council will be hosting and promoting the 6 of us with a show for the month of april. I will keep you posted about this.
The last item and certainly not least, Wendy Wacko from Mountain Galleries, has invited me to join her galleries. I will be working hard in the next few weeks getting some Whistler villages scenes done and shipped up to the Chateau Whistler Mountain Gallery.
Well that is about it for a bit, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! Stay safe and warm........... (posted on 6 Oct 2008)
Any yet another first. My son's first baby, he is beautiful and everyone is healthy and happy. It really is a miracle. I am going to have to change my bio to 3 wonderful grandchildren. (posted on 2 Oct 2008)
Well today first is men. I taught my first class with all men. Very interesting. The conversations went from kids and household problems to hockey and cars. The dynamics of the class have certainly changed but I am up for the challenge. I am just kidding guys, it will be a lot of fun and I might just learn something. (posted on 27 Sep 2008)
all the best, Linda

Hi Everyone, THIS IS MY FIRST BLOG! For the most part, the plan is to give you an update on what is happening in my studio. That could be about classes or something new to play with or a painting that I am working on. I would love for you to check back occasionally to see what is going on here.
The first thing I would like to talk about is a new paint. It is called Golden Open. I picked some up at the Upstart Crow in Ladner. It is still acrylic but it could take up to 36 hours to dry if it is by itself. I have limited colours right now and I am mixing the Open with regular acrylics. It gives you extra play time for blending clouds, portraits, water?? It dries a little slower, mixing the 2 and it seems to be enough for now. I have just done a painting with water running over rocks and I loved it. I also think it will be great for my yearly weekend painter's paradise in Peachland BC. July is mighty hot and this is not supposed to dry while we paint outside. I will let you know. It is nice to go back in my studio and it is still wet on my palette. That is about it for now, Linda |
